‘Interior design is an entitled service’
‘Interior design is an entitled service’
The person who confidently underscored the above went on to say that only the rich can afford ‘elevated interior experiences’.
I reject this at all levels.
Interior design can be dissected into many layers and be appreciated by all despite their differing social backgrounds, culture and even income levels.
Sure, at it’s topmost layer, interior design can be an out-of-this-world, breath-taking granduer experience within a 10 star-rated boutique hotel ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. That interior experience could be for the affluent few.
Now, looking at interior design at its base layer- this function should serve in a simple way to take advantage of the space’s inherent values such as natural lighting, ventilation, structures and built-in spaces. Prioritising function, an interior designer can organise a space to ensure that the home is functionally optimised and is visually inviting without blowing a hole in your wallet 💸. Even a skilled interior designer should not charge top dollar* for these basic planning necessities. A moderate to decent financial transaction for this service will suffice, in exchange for a lifetime of upward improvement!
No matter what times we are in, homes are still a basic requirement for the survival of the human race. Since we work so hard to put a roof over our heads, why not make the best out of it?
BB’s H.O.G
Before embarking on construction, BuildBuilt’s residential clients will receive the Home-Owner’s Guide. This is part of our effort to educate home owners on how to live easily and simply through design.
🏠 And once we have, in an affordable way, created a safe and secure home for ourselves, we can go on to enjoy the ‘out-of-this-world, breath-taking granduer experience’ around us.. for free! We can use these similar adjectives for God’s creation - nature! Standing and looking up into the night sky, and gazing into the universe with its countless stars evokes such profound emotions.. and the best part? It’s completely free of charge. What wondrous design!
Who says ‘elevated’ design is only for the rich and famous?
*I do disclaim that if a space is problematic and complex, coming up with ‘simple’ solutions will be effortful and time consuming. The time and effort spent to resolve these problems might be massive, and therefore project costs can increase!
