Nathanael Tan's Experience

Do you remember the last time you stumbled upon an underrated restaurant along the streets of Duxton or Dempsey?

The unassuming yet affirming exterior, the kitchen's aroma that hits you even before you step in, the warm, family-like service as you get shown to your table, the hearty conversations with the owner and chef across the bar counter, and the food, oh man, the food.

Working with Angel and Xiwen for our new home felt just like that - their confidence and lack of pompousness drew us in, their repertoire of ideas and resourcefulness swept us off our feet during our first workshop, their honesty and sincerity in journeying together made us feel like family and we've had the pleasure of watching masters of their craft at work all while entertaining our chatter.

The final product is everything we hungered for and many things we never knew we'd need but now love. We could've gone to mcdonalds or a fancy restaurant at MBS, but instead we chose to go where it felt like home to make our house our home and we couldn't be more thankful to the team at BuildBuilt.

One of our favourite concepts by the team was a 5.5m long curved end to the false ceiling intended to conceal our CCS trunking (which we thankfully don't need anymore) yet complement our curved sofa. We also appreciated very detailed work such as on-site fine adjustments to our toilet vanities and kitchen cabinets to match the existing tile grooves.

The weekly video updates also gave us the peace of mind and enabled quick iterations, decisions and rectifications when necessary. All in all, the team's eye for detail and careful project execution was truly masterful.

Pros:

  1. Deliberate and detailed design process

  2. Heavy emphasis on understanding client's living habits, needs and desires

  3. Creative ideas

  4. Wide selection of materials

  5. Strong project management abilities and dedication

Cons:

  1. Material selection done way ahead of procurement resulting in uncertain stock availability

  2. Slightly pricier
