Cass and Andy’s 4-room BTO, measuring approximately 1,000 sqft, reflects their vision of creating a warm, open-concept space designed for hosting friends and spending quality time together. The Living Room
To achieve an open layout, Cass and Andy removed a bedroom, seamlessly extending the living space. The centerpiece of this area is a dark leather sofa, a cherished piece from their previous rental, paired with a practical and stylish dining table. Without a TV, they opted for a projector that projects onto a blank wall, creating a flexible entertainment hub.
Storage solutions were prioritized, with items stashed beneath the settee. This area doubles as a favorite nap spot for their cats, Ember and Ash, adding a layer of charm to the room.
The Kitchen
The kitchen is a testament to BuildBuilt’s ability to balance aesthetics with functionality. Sliding doors were installed, allowing the couple to contain cooking smells while keeping their cats out during meal prep. The service yard was repurposed to expand the space, making room for a striking island counter where they often eat breakfast and dinner.
Personal touches abound, such as a dedicated coffee corner styled with handcrafted wooden and resin items by Cass’s father. The repurposed microwave space, now an alcohol display, highlights the couple’s flexibility and thoughtful design choices.
The Bedroom
In the master bedroom, BuildBuilt designed curved wardrobes that frame the bed and incorporate a vanity area, maximizing storage while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic. The spare bedroom, currently serving as a home office with a cozy reading nook, showcases the couple’s adaptability. They envision redesigning the room as their needs evolve, potentially into a game room or other functional space.
Cats Retreat
From the outset, Cass and Andy wanted their home to be both functional and welcoming, with ample room for entertaining guests and accommodating their pets’ playful nature. The design team thoughtfully incorporated cat-friendly elements into the layout, ensuring Ember and Ash had cozy nooks to rest in and plenty of room to explore. The cats’ favorite spot quickly became the settee area, where cleverly designed storage provides practicality for the couple while also serving as a perfect nap zone for their furry companions.
Inspired by their previous rental, the balcony was a key design element that drew Cass and Andy to BuildBuilt. Initially conceptualized as a reading corner, it now functions as a dedicated space for their cats to lounge and play. The couple also dreams of transforming this space into a bar area for hosting BBQ sessions in the future.
Cass and Andy’s renovation experience with BuildBuilt was marked by collaboration and innovation.
