Tricia and Tian’s first home is a reflection of their vision for a cozy, functional, and welcoming space. Located in a 1,000-square-foot, four-room BTO flat in Ubi, this home combines timeless neutral tones and warm wood elements, creating a sanctuary that exudes comfort and versatility.
The Living Room and Dining Area
From the entrance, visitors are greeted by an inviting living and dining area. A concealed DB box doubles as a shoe rack, while the space remains free of built-ins, ensuring flexibility for future updates. A beige-painted TV wall complements the simple TV console and L-shaped sofa, crafting a cohesive, minimalistic vibe. Sheer curtains soften the incoming daylight, enhancing the room’s tranquil ambiance, a perfect retreat after a long day.
Recognizing their love for hosting, the couple designed communal spaces with care. The dining and bar areas create a seamless flow, while the open bar encourages a welcoming environment for guests. These thoughtful touches highlight the couple’s focus on creating a warm, inviting atmosphere. The extendable dining table and bar carpentry continue the timber theme, seamlessly blending with the open bar that warmly invites guests to feel at home.
The Kitchen
The kitchen prioritizes openness and functionality, featuring glass sliding doors that allow natural light to flood in. Dark wood frames emphasize the olive-green lower cabinets, which contrast strikingly against the plain backsplash and top cabinets, achieving both style and practicality.
The Bedroom
Tricia and Tian opted to reconfigure their space, relocating the second bedroom’s entrance to create a private suite. This redesign incorporates an ensuite bathroom, a small walk-in wardrobe, a study area, and a spacious king bed. Gold trimmings and dark wood laminates elevate the walk-in wardrobe’s aesthetic, while a half-wall green paint visually expands the clutter-free master bedroom, maintaining a timeless yet functional design.
Inspired by online platforms and visits to friends’ homes, Tricia and Tian entrusted BuildBuilt to turn their vision into reality.
