MODERN ISLAMIC HOME

Hudzaifah and his wife envisioned their home as a sanctuary, a space of comfort, peace, and spiritual growth. Located in Woodlands, their 1,087-square-foot, four-room resale flat artfully combines Islamic aesthetics with modern design principles. Prioritizing simplicity and functionality, they designed a home that mirrors their personalities and the values they hold dear.

The Living and Dining Room

Upon entering, one is greeted by an elongated rectangular area that seamlessly integrates the living and dining spaces, one of the features that drew the couple to this unit. With minimal furnishings to avoid visual clutter, the dining area near the entrance serves as a warm welcome. A dark walnut dining set for four not only complements the minimalist theme but also provides the perfect setup for hosting guests.

Adjacent to the dining area, the living room is anchored by shades of green, chosen to honor their religious values. A neutral reserved white provides a calming backdrop, while green abyss accents offer a bold yet harmonious contrast.

To soften the space, arches were incorporated into the design, while a feature wall conceals the household shelter. This wall also houses niches that showcase cherished mementos and keepsakes, adding a personal touch to the home.

Special Sanctuary to Pray

Spirituality lies at the heart of this home. Next to the living room, a dedicated prayer area exudes serenity. The space is distinguished by a glowing mihrab lined with glossy green tiles, an elegant architectural nod to Islamic traditions. This area offers a sacred retreat for the couple to unwind and disconnect from the busyness of daily life.

The Kitchen Area

The kitchen effortlessly blends form and function with light oak carpentry featuring shaker-style details. The bottom cabinets are adorned with a glossy sintered stone countertop, while the top cabinets use beige, off-white laminates for a subtle contrast. A glossy green tiled backsplash complements the countertop, creating a cohesive design.

The layout also includes a tall unit that visually separates the kitchen from the yard, maintaining an organized and seamless flow between the two areas. The yard features a matte countertop by EDL for added practicality.

The Bedroom

In the master bedroom, thoughtful design enhances both utility and comfort. A slanted vanity adheres to the wall’s unique shape, while a queen bed is nestled between his-and-hers wardrobes. Above the headboard, a small niche offers space for personal touches. The master bathroom, in contrast, adopts a darker aesthetic with wood-toned laminates and grey tiles, achieving a balance between boldness and refinement.

The homeowners renovation journey was deeply personal and collaborative. Knowing the designer personally, they chose BuildBuilt for its ability to translate their vision into reality. From the initial concept deck to the final touches, the team ensured every detail aligned with the couple’s needs and preferences.

Throughout the process, BuildBuilt’s commitment to collaboration and timeline adherence stood out, delivering a space that perfectly encapsulates the couple’s shared values and aspirations. Today, Hudzaifah and his wife call this thoughtfully designed space their sanctuary, a true reflection of their journey and essence.
